About Georgia... Among other things, I'm a sewist ("one who sews"). I started learning to sew in 1965 both at home and in "junior high" in San Carlos, California. I have loved sewing from the first cutting & stitching, and am very grateful for the encouragement from the start & ongoing from my family and friends. As a lifelong nature lover & outdoors woman I find much of my inspiration for sewing in colors, textures & shapes in nature. Garments and other items
I enjoy making vary widely … from lingerie to tote bags and dresses to shade
tarps. This includes grocery & garden bags, stuff sacks & other outdoor
gear, shorts, bathrobes,
sachets, kayak cockpit covers, tank tops & camisoles, skirts, pillowcases,
pet bed slipcovers, shirts, pants, PJs, shrugs, jackets, fly masks for horses
& more. As often as possible I purchase fabric and notions from privately-owned companies, both "in store" and via the internet. I buy many of my cottons from privately owned quilt shops. Georgia Stigall dba Coastal Seams is a member of Hometown Peninsula (http://www.hometownpeninsula.org) and American Sewing Guild (http://www.ASG.org) About Coastal Seams of California ... I chose this name for my business because it's an earth-related term combining my love of our planet, my home region and sewing. Items are made by me in San Mateo County, California and may be shipped anywhere in the USA. My focus for commercial sewing is "goods & gifts", and my product line changes over time. A variety of multi-purpose bags, pillowcases / pillowslips and greeting cards featuring my original photos will always be among my offerings. Current information will always be available on this site and by phoning or writing. I do not offer my skills commercially for alterations & custom fitting, fashion/bridal couture, making & selling items from others' copyrighted patterns, sewing leather, upholstery work or extensive customization of items. If you have a need for these or other services and are unable to find someone, feel free to contact me as it's likely I can connect you with another professional to do the type of work you need. I always welcome the opportunity to refer business to other skilled individuals and private companies - it's definitely part of the joy of being in this business!
